Caramel Mixed Nuts

IMG_1094.jpg

These are beyond simple, with only two ingredients. You can enhance the flavors with more spices but we have found that the nuts will take on the flavor of the caramel you choose.

I keep these in a bowl on the table outside the kitchen to keep my family’s grubby paws from constantly taste testing what is on the stove. These are also perfect in any and all holiday baking. They can be incorporated into an apple pie crumble, chopped to cover a baked french toast, added to a sweet potato casserole, or scattered atop a salad.

Let’s do this…

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 40 minutes
Delicious Factor: 5 stars

Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups unsalted mixed nuts ( we recommend a mix of pecans & walnuts or cashews & almonds)

  • 5oz Goat Milk Caramel Sauce (we like the Cinnamon Vanilla flavor)

  • Optional: Cayenne Pepper for a kick, chopped rosemary for a savory flavor or cinnamon for more sweet

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.

  • In a bowl add nuts and pour caramel sauce. Stir until the nuts are thoroughly coated with the caramel.

  • Spread the covered nuts on a 9x13in pan. Place the pan in the preheated oven, and bake the caramel nuts for 40 minutes, stirring after every 5-10 minutes to prevent burning.

  • Remove the nuts from the oven when golden brown and place on a plate or pan. Separate the nuts with a fork so they're not clumped up. Allow them to cool completely at room temperature. If you do have any big chunks of nuts, break them up once they're cool and crunchy.

  • Enjoy your caramel nuts immediately, or store them in container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
